After buying the standard car At the beginning of April, The Turbo engine was the very first thing to be fitted, The body was left in fairly standard trim, in lay-mans terms, it was a street sleeper. Even 1.4 brakes were used for the first week!. 227 BHP in a standard Astra, The only noticeable difference was that the GSi rear bumper had to be fitted to the car after the first few weeks on the road so that the new exhaust tail pipe could be positioned perfectly with the bumper exhaust exit moulding.. |

5 Months has passed and word had got around that this was no normal Astra, I had managed to get all the body panels needed to do the GSi conversion and so decided it was time to get it all fitted and sprayed up and also buy a set of 17" wheels to finish of the new look. My choice was Millemiglia revenge 4, For the record, I never really liked them from day 1, but there's no turning back once the money has switched hands. |

18" wheels and the Steinmetz splitter are the first visual changes, then the 335mm wilwood Racing brakes catch your eye, Once the bonnet is lifted a whole host of goodies have suddenly appeared, Courtenay Aluminium Plug cover, Courtenay Aluminium Exhaust Heat Shield, Pace Chargecooler, Now the car is really starting to stand out from the crowd. I also cut a big mouth in the front bumper to house the chargecooler radiator which then resulted in a square number plate positioned on the passenger side of the front bumper. I fitted a grille onto the front bumper covering the Pace chargecooler in April, and in May, I lowered the rear a touch more. The other addition is my trade mark Registration plate taken from the Turbo Van, A 1.3 NOT. . |

On 23rd July 2002 I repositioned the Charge cooler behind the upper grille that houses the Vauxhall Emblem, then fitted a normal sized numberplate back in the centre of the bumper, I'm still not sure weather I like it at the side or in the middle yet, so it could easily be changed again. I am however loosing airflow going into the front through the big mouth I made in February due to the Reg Plate been in the middle, But If I moved the plate back to the side and with the chargecooler been mounted higher up there could be room for a nice big front mounted Intercooler in the Big Mouth Gap.......who can tell ! Alloy bonnet struts are another new item. |

The Beginning of October 2002 saw the arrival of a new set of wheels, They are still 7.5 x 18" but are made by Kahn and are called the RS-S design. They are finished in Platinum Silver and really compliment the cars appearance. The Smoked Chrome wheels were nice, they gave the car an aggressive appearance but personally I like the shiny silver wheels the best. They are easier to clean too which is a great bonus. The suspension set up was altered again for the umpteenth time, though this time I am happy so it might just stay as it is for longer than a few weeks. |

The Arrival of Nitrous takes the BHP figure to an estimated 320-330 BHP though this cannot be tested as there are no suitable rolling roads that are able to give grip to my wheels. A Clifford turbo timer has replaced the courtenay item. A large capacity intercooler is going into the hole I cut out of the bumper though this will be in a few days time. Bosch racing plugs are also fitted. |
